Description of the CN01 diphone database

Phonotactics

The CN01 diphone database consists of 520 diphones, recorded from two native Female singers of Mandarin. The diphones are segmented and organized according to the rule of Pinyin.

1. To speak a chinese syllable, we can use a combination of an initial over a final, for example:

Hao: h-ao.

2. Or, we can speak Ai, An, A, E, etc. without of the initial.

3. There is a special modification, for the Compound finals, I put the first vowel of the final in the initial. In the final, there will be only one vowel. That allows us to easily sing a chinese syllable, because there is a single vowel in the final, for example:
To speak: Huan: hu-an, Kua: ku-a, Shuo: shu-o etc.
To sing: Hua: hu-a-a-a-a-a-a, Biao: bi-ao-ao-ao-ao etc.
